The Importance of A Coach

Just as players are a key factor in each game, coaches are an integral part of team sports. Coaches provide direction, guidance, team organization, and serve as a point of contact for the team. Coaches are not only for the players, but for the parents and guardians of those players. Beyond teaching skills and strategy, a good coach helps instill values like teamwork, discipline, respect, and perseverance. They create a supportive environment where kids can grow in confidence, learn from mistakes, and develop a love for the game. Coaches often serve as role models, shaping not only athletic ability but also character, making their influence lasting far beyond the season.

Coaches Are Volunteers

All coaches in our league are parent volunteers, just like in most other recreational sports programs. We rely on the support and involvement of parents to help make each season possible. Please keep in mind that we do not have a catalog or pool of available coaches waiting to be assigned to teams—our leagues only function when parents step up to volunteer. Your time and effort make a big difference in providing a positive experience for all players.

Selecting Coaches & Benefits of Coaching

Selection of Coaches

At MO Family Sports, all coaches are volunteers, and we rely on the involvement of parents and guardians to help make each season possible. During registration, parents/guardians can opt in to volunteer as a coach by selecting “yes” on the registration form. However, being selected as a coach is not guaranteed, as placement depends on the number of teams and available volunteers in each division. Some teams may not be assigned a coach if there are not enough volunteers in that division. In those cases, it becomes the responsibility of the parents/guardians of that team to identify someone willing to coach. All coaching volunteers are subject to a background check to ensure a safe and positive environment for our players.

Benefits

Coaching a youth sports team comes with some great perks beyond the game itself. As a coach, you get free admission to all league events with the provided league coach pass, the best seat in the house—right on the bench—and a front-row view of your child’s growth and development. It's a unique opportunity to be actively involved in your kid’s activity, build lasting memories, and make a positive impact on the team. Plus, it’s a rewarding way to give back to your community and help shape young athletes both on and off the field or court.

MO Family Sports is owned by Ky Turner. Day to day operations are performed by the Program Director, Camdyn Rucker. We believe it is important to provide safe, organized, fun, athletic events for the youth in this area to stay active and healthy.
